Palm Housing Co-operative, London
The Palm Housing Cooperative is located just behind the OXO Tower on London’s South Bank and is part of the Coin Street Community Builders social enterprise property portfolio, being completed in 1995.
The development went on to win several prestigious awards including RIBA National Housing Design Award 1995, RIBA Regional Award for Architecture 1996 and The Civic Trust Housing Award for Best Housing Development 1996.
HBS were engaged as specialist contractors to redecorate the buildings exterior after a very rigorous tender process. As a social enterprise they are duty bound to seek the best value on all of their property portfolio. HBS offered a range of value engineering not least with the very expensive access costs involved in revamping a high level dwelling. HBS operatives have a very broad range of skills and are qualified to work from a number of access systems. In this instance HBS were able to offer a combination of scaffold and power cradle access resulting in substantial savings in both cost and build programme.
