Our £4 million redevelopment of the former Matalan unit has successfully delivered a state-of-the-art self-storage facility, completed on time and on budget in October 2025.

The project began with a full strip-out of the existing retail space, followed by the construction of new piled foundations to support a reconfigured steel frame and a new double-height mezzanine floor. A full roof replacement and extensive internal works were undertaken to create the new layout and structural configuration.

Over an 11-month construction programme, the team delivered a remarkable transformation. Once the new building shell was complete, an intensive 20-week fit-out phase followed, resulting in a triple-height self-storage facility offering approximately 600 internal units and 54 external units. The facility is managed through a state-of-the-art app-based access and security system, providing users with secure, flexible entry.

Externally, the building received a complete facelift with fully redecorated elevations, new shutters, doors, windows, fencing, gates, signage, and an enhanced reception area. Extensive landscaping improvements have further elevated the site’s appearance and functionality.

Sustainability was at the heart of the scheme, with the completed facility achieving an EPC ‘A’ rating, supported by roof-mounted photovoltaic panels and EV charging points.
