We have recently completed work at Cathedral Hill Industrial Estate in Guildford where the redevelopment has transformed the existing industrial estate into a state-of-the-art, carbon neutral, Breeam excellent facility.

This ambitious £10m redevelopment scheme, which we have completed on behalf of our client Savills Investment Management, provides all 13 units with enhanced thermal performance with triple-glazed windows, maximum insulation, substantial MEP upgrades, asbestos removal, solar photovoltaic panels to roofs (0.5 MW of power potential) and electric vehicle charging points. The extensive solar panel installation is complemented by a Tesla Powerwall battery installation to each unit. The modernised look and feel of the estate was achieved through a combination of new cladding and raised parapet details to the front elevations.

The success of the project has attracted a range of new high-profile tenants, including Porsche and Topps Tiles, whose tenancy highlights their commitment to reduce their carbon footprint and the impact of their business activities on the environment. Some occupiers are already operating on a 100% renewable power basis with surplus electricity being sent back to the Grid.

The HBS project team delivered an outstanding job, despite the challenging environment of working whilst the estate was still occupied, well done to everyone involved!

As further testament to the scheme’s success, it won the ‘Regeneration Project’ at the Guildford Design Awards, which recognises and rewards excellence in architecture, urban design, planning and public art across the borough.. The Awards, which were held on 23rd November 2023 are organised by The Guildford Society in partnership with Guildford Borough Council.
