Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge
HBS were directly engaged as principal contractors to the Cambridge University NHS Foundation Trust to advise on a suitable roofing system as part of a rolling refurbishment programme within the Addenbrooke’s Hospital complex.
HBS were able to offer a liquid Roofing System which alleviates any concerns with regards to naked flames or indeed the H&S ramifications of using hot applied compounds. The liquids are very low odour which was a stipulation when working so closely to patient critical areas.
The existing asphalt was cleaned to remove any loose material and sealed. Handrails were lifted and lightning protection fixings were temporarily released to enable all of the roof area to be treated. The system is very quick drying so the operatives are able to focus on specific areas and able to replace everything the same day prior to leaving site.
HBS operatives have to be continually assessed as part of the Approved Applicator Status and adhere to a strict manufacturer specification. The other benefit of the accredited status is that HBS can then issue a product warranty backed by the manufacturers. Extended Insurance Backed Warranties are available to suit all applications and projects. The whole roofing contract was completed quickly and disruption to staff and patients was kept to an absolute minimum.
