HBS Appointed by Thames Water to Restore Historic Pumping Stations

HBS have been appointed by Thames Water to carry out a range of restoration works to their Littleton and Staines Raw Water Pumping Stations (RWPS).

Littleton RWPS, which was opened in 1925, draws water from the Thames at Laleham and supplies the Queen Mary reservoir, one of the largest raw water reservoirs in the UK and still using the original pumps! The pumping station at Staines is older, having been constructed in 1896.

HBS’s scope of work includes re-ling gutters with Centaur liquid roofing, replacing defective downpipes and gutters, repairing and painting windows and restoring damaged brickwork and roofing. At both sites HBS will be using specialist access systems.

James Brett, HBS Project Director commented, “We’re very excited to be working on these two historic and very interesting buildings and to start our new working relationship with Thames Water.”
